KINGS OF MACEDON, Perseus (179-168 BC). AR tetradrachm (16,96 g). Struck in Amphipolis or Pella circa 179-172 BC. Diademed and bearded head of Perseus to right / BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠEPΣEΩΣ, Eagle standing right on thunderbolt with spread wings; mintmaster's monogram above (ZΩ), ZΩ monogram to right, ΛΩ monogram between legs; all within oak wreath; star below. Small area of roughness on obverse. Wonderful golden toning with patches of intense blue iridescence.
